Stephen Richardson BOst - Telford Osteopaths
Intro
Stephen is an osteopath at Telford Osteopaths with more than 20 years of experience in musculoskeletal care, sports injury rehabilitation and osteopathic treatment. He graduated from the British School of Osteopathy (now the University College of Osteopathy) in London in 2004 and has worked with patients across the UK and internationally.
Based in Telford, Stephen works with adults experiencing back pain, neck pain, joint pain, sports injuries and movement-related musculoskeletal problems. His approach combines osteopathic treatment with rehabilitation-focused care, helping patients better understand factors that may contribute to pain and reduced movement.
Osteopathic Treatment for Musculoskeletal Pain
Stephen provides osteopathic treatment for a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, including:
-
Back pain
-
Neck pain
-
Joint pain
-
Sports injuries
-
Muscle tension
-
Work-related musculoskeletal pain
-
Movement restrictions
Osteopathy is a hands-on approach commonly used for musculoskeletal pain and mobility issues. Treatment may include joint mobilisation, stretching, soft tissue techniques and movement-based rehabilitation, depending on the individual presentation.
Sports Injury Rehabilitation in Telford
A significant part of Stephen’s clinical work focuses on sports injury assessment and rehabilitation. Over the years, he has worked with professional, semi-professional and amateur athletes across multiple sports.
During his 10 years working in Dubai, Stephen supported teams and athletes at the Dubai 7s and worked with Dubai Exiles in both playing and medical roles. He has also worked with endurance athletes and Ironman competitors, supporting rehabilitation and movement management across different stages of training and competition.
Stephen is currently the osteopath for Telford Tigers Ice Hockey during the 2025–2026 season.
Dry Needling and Rehabilitation Support
Alongside osteopathic treatment, Stephen uses dry needling where clinically appropriate within musculoskeletal care. Dry needling is commonly used to address muscle tension, trigger points and restricted movement as part of a wider rehabilitation approach.
Stephen trained in dry needling early in his career and completed additional training in auricular acupuncture in 2023.
He also incorporates Kinesio and dynamic taping techniques to support rehabilitation, movement and injury management where suitable.
FIFA Diploma in Football Medicine
In November 2017, Stephen completed FIFA’s Diploma in Football Medicine, further developing his understanding of sports-related musculoskeletal management and rehabilitation.
His experience working with athletes across football, rugby, endurance sport and ice hockey contributes to his practical, movement-focused approach to osteopathic care.
